In 2003, when diving in India was still just a whisper, Vandit (a.k.a Vinnie) walked away from corporate life and moved to the Andamans with a conviction. Limited infrastructure, no playbook but a strong drive – and DIVEIndia was born.

What grew wasn’t just a business, but a community, a training ground, and a benchmark that hundreds of dive professionals trace their roots back to.

The Journey, UnParalleled

From Consultant to Dive Pioneer

In 2006, Sid, a kid straight out of college, arrived in the Andamans to learn to dive. He didn’t know back then that the instructor teaching him would one day entrust him with the very school he was learning in. Years passed. Corporate life didn’t stick. What did, was a deeper calling – to make quality diving equipment accessible in India. In 2015, Purple Octopus Ventures was born – not out of grand ambition, but out of curiosity, trial, and a willingness to learn the hard way.

Mistakes were made. Wrong things ordered. Inventory stored in homes. But they did one job relentlessly: They did the right thing, no matter the cost. Trust built quietly. Word spread. Growth followed.

Nearly two decades later, the DIVETale came full circle. The student returned to carry the legacy forward.

For Vinnie, it was not a sale for the highest bid, but for the faith that POV would honour the DIVELegacy.

From one “dunghie” to five speed boats. From a single centre to two. From dive operations to a complete ecosystem – including what is now DIVEResort. Infrastructure upgraded. Systems strengthened. Capacity expanded. Yet the philosophy remains unchanged: to introduce diving to the country in a safe way.

In the Andamans, we are the first DIVESchool to bring CCR Diving, to have a dedicated Freediving instructor, to push boundaries like diving (again) at Barren Island… All of this, not for headlines, but to restore and elevate the culture of #REALDIVING.

What truly defines DIVEIndia is not a single era, but continuity. From a leap of faith to a transition built on trust – we stand not just as one of Andaman’s oldest dive schools, but as a place shaped by curiosity, consistency, and community. It’s a legacy that is still being written, one diver at a time.
