When the reef looks gorgeous in every direction, endless blues stretch on, and you’re in dive bliss… Do you ever wonder “what if I had to find my way back to the boat myself?!”
It’s not just about knowing which way the boat is. The SSI Navigation Specialty is where uncertainty starts to fade, and you learn how to read the reef like a map – spotting natural landmarks, noticing patterns and contours, and demystifying the compass to piece together exactly where you are. Your instructor will guide you to do it like a pro – what they pay attention to, what to look for and how to stay oriented even when you are navigating unfamiliar waters.
And before you know it, you’ll not just be following your Instructor, you’ll be navigating the site like the back of your hand!

Let’s Get Oriented!
Prerequisites:
- Finishing reading your course material is mandatory BEFORE you arrive.
- You should also be a certified SSI Open Water Diver or equivalent from any recognized training agency.
Medical Form:
Before you dive, you’ll need to fill out a medical questionnaire. It is a self-check of your eligibility to dive.
If you do need a doctor’s clearance, we will guide you through it! Download the form now.
Age Limitations:
- The minimum age to become an underwater wayfinder is 10 years. You’ll be certified as an SSI Navigation Diver.
Price:
- ₹15,000 per person, all inclusive

I already follow my dive guide like a shadow. Do I need this course?
- If you plan on diving internationally, think of this course as a must-do!
- In many global dive destinations, there may not be a guide leading the way; Set up your gear, get the site map, find a buddy, and off you go.
- This course hones your skills & boosts your confidence to do exactly that.
I’ve done one Navigation Adventure Dive during my Advanced course. Will that count here?
- Yes! That dive absolutely will count towards your Navigation Diving Specialty.
- How does it work? How many dives will you need? How long will the course take? These questions are better answered on a case-to-case basis.

Will I be able to choose my Instructor?
- Yes and no.
- While we’re more than happy to note your preference and will try our best to match you with them, each day’s dive plan gets finalised only on the previous evening.
- Rest assured, whoever it will be, you’re always in safe hands!
What is the Student-to-Instructor ratio for the course?
- 4:1. 4 students. 1 instructor.
- That means more attention, fewer flailing fins, and plenty of time for feedback where it matters most.
- But that doesn’t mean we won’t do the course with fewer students. We do. There is always a batch finning!
Where do I access my course material?
- On the SSI App – your forever dive buddy. Available on Android & iOS. Phones & tablets. Or even a good ol’ browser.
- Theory, logs, certifications cards…this is your diver flex app, essentially!
I need some content for my Instagram! Can I rent a GoPro for that?
- Yep! Once OWD certified, cameras are allowed on fun dives and most courses (we’ll let your Instructor take the call).
- And if you are really into underwater photography, the Photo & Video Specialty and you are a match made in heaven the Ocean!
What if I have to cancel my trip? Do I get any refund?
- Here are the not-so-fun details:
- Cancel one month prior, and you get a full refund.
- Two weeks prior? 50% refund.
- Less than a week? No refund, unfortunately.
- That said, life loves plot twists, and we get it! Talk to us, and we’ll figure the best possible solution.
